A beautifully presented solid mahogany canteen made by Mappin & Webb, London. It features handsome curved legs and two fixed drawers, complete with built-in cutlery dividers, all individually labelled. It also has a silver personalised plaque attached to its top which adds historical interest to the piece as well as provenance.
The piece has been fully sanded, primed, painted and finally varnished for protection. The top has been left in its natural state to showcase the beauty of the wood. A traditional liquid wax was applied.
The lotus and leaves pattern has been applied totally by hand, on a lovely deep blue base, " Hague Blue" by Farrow & Ball.
